Methods of Delivery, Refund & Return Policy
As a facilitator, UnibookConnect provides options but the actual logistics are managed by the student sellers and buyers, within the agreed upon standards. Our payment holding system is key to ensuring delivery happens as agreed.
1. Methods of Delivery
UnibookConnect encourages sellers to offer at least one of the following reliable delivery/collection methods. The cost of shipping is generally paid by the buyer, unless the seller offers free shipping.
MethodDescriptionKey Feature
P2P Campus Collection: The safest and most affordable method. The buyer and seller agree to meet at a designated safe public space on a university campus (e.g., library entrance, student centre) to exchange the book.Zero Cost and Instant Exchange. Payment is released only after the buyer physically inspects and confirms the book.
Courier Service (Door to Door): The seller uses a third party courier service to ship the book to the buyer's specified address. Trackable and National Reach. The seller provides the tracking number.
Local Drop/Pick-up Points: The seller drops the book at a pre selected Pargo or POSTNET pick-up point, and the buyer collects it from their nearest or preferred location. Convenient and Affordable Alternative to door-to-door.
2. Refund and Return Policy
UnibookConnect operates on a Buyer-Beware and Seller Honesty model, typical of second hand, peer to peer marketplaces. However, we employ a strict Escrow Payment System and a clear Misrepresentation Policy to protect both parties.
A. Refund/Return Eligibility (Our 7-Day Guarantee)
A buyer may be eligible for a refund only under the following conditions:
-
Book Not Received: The book is not delivered/made available for collection within the agreed-upon timeframe (typically 7-10 business days post-payment).
-
Gross Misrepresentation: The physical condition of the book is significantly worse than described in the original listing. For example, a book described as "Like New" is received with half the pages missing or heavily water-damaged. Note: Minor highlighting or minimal wear consistent with a second hand textbook is generally not considered gross misrepresentation.
-
Wrong Title/Edition: The book received is the incorrect title or an entirely different edition than the one clearly specified in the listing.
B. Refund Process
-
Initiation: The buyer must raise a dispute via the UnibookConnect platform within 7 days of recorded delivery/collection.
-
Evidence: The buyer must provide photographic or video evidence clearly demonstrating the misrepresentation (e.g., damage, wrong title).
-
Mediation: UnibookConnect mediates the dispute. If the claim of gross misrepresentation is validated:
-
The buyer must return the book to the seller, with the seller covering the return shipping cost.
-
Once the seller confirms receipt of the returned book, UnibookConnect will release a full refund (100% of the book price plus original shipping fee) to the buyer from the secured escrow payment.
-
-
No Refund: If the buyer simply changes their mind after confirming the purchase, or if the defect was clearly disclosed in the listing (e.g., "damaged cover - see photo"), no refund will be issued.
